Verbena Bonariensis
Verbena Bonariensis
Verbena bonariensis also known as purple top vervain, has tall, narrow, sparsely-leafed stems with heads of bright lavender-purple flowers that appear in late-summer and sway gracefully in the summer breeze. It's perfect for bringing height to an ornamental border and also works well in prairie-style planting schemes with ornamental grasses. It's a superb butterfly plant, rivalling even buddleja, and loved by many other pollinating insects. Given the right conditions, plants will self-seed freely.
